The Scones are multi-intrumentalist/singer/songwriter Rick Stockton and singer/bassist Helen Highwater.

Stockton hails from south Texas, while the enigmatic Highwater was born and raised in Chicago. They met in Denver, and from there performed and toured with several groups around the country, earning their credentials as road warriors. In 2006 the duo decided to focus on a particular sound they heard in their heads which emphasized melody, vocal harmony, and a rockin’ beat.

They recorded and released the first  Scones album Well Thawed Out which quickly attracted attention and prompted Vintage Guitar Magazine to write a feature article on Stockton. Two more full-length albums – Introretrospective and Two Vegans –  followed, garnering praise for the Scones’ musicianship and imaginative arrangements.

Stockton and Highwater, both dynamic performers who know how to connect with an audience, have attracted a loyal following. Performing both as a duo and as a larger band with drums, horns and additional vocalists, the  Scones are getting tremendous response from audiences everywhere. and are proud to have received a standing ovation opening for legendary rocker, Joe Cocker.

Stockton is an award winning songwriter. He has produced and recorded projects ranging from Jazz to Country & Western for musicians in Texas and the western states. Helen’s vocals and bass playing have graced many albums and sessions by other artists. Stockton also authored the music score for The Bremen Musicians, which had a successful run at the prestigious Arvada Center in metro Denver. He is currently working with noted New York playwright, L.E. McCullough on his latest musical, due for completion in 2012.
